KinTek SF-MiniMixer

The MiniMixer Stopped-Flow allows customers to utilize their own spectrophotometer or spectrofluorometer for data collection. The MiniMixer uses a pneumatic drive cylinder to rapidly force two reactants through an umbilical cord into a mixing cuvette that is compatible with standard spectrophotometer and fluorometer cuvette holders. It provides an excellent instrument for teaching labs and for research labs needing to rapidly mix samples into their spectrophotometer or fluorometer. The MiniMixer allows temperature control through the syringe chamber and umbilical cord to the sample cell by using a circulating water bath. It is also possible to purge the upper chamber above the drive syringes to perform anaerobic reactions. The MiniMixer has a dead time of only 3.5 milliseconds and so it provides an inexpensive alternative for measuring reactions that are slower than 200 s-1. The instrument can be interfaced to a PC computer using KinTek software available with the instrument.

Specifications

Pneumatic Drive: Air pressure drives the pneumatic cylinder to force the mixing of solutions through the observation cell, with a stop syringe to limit the volume expended and to trigger data collection at stop.
Syringe chamber and cell assembly: The syringe chamber is transparent and can be thermostatted by circulating water (provided separately). In addition, a chamber above the syringes can be purged to eliminate oxygen above the samples. Samples contact only glass, Teflon, Kel-F and PEEK.
Syringe volume and range: 2 ml standard. Syringes of 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 ml are also available for variable ratio mixing.
Temperature range: A range of 0-50°C is maintained by circulating water bath (provided separately).
Dead Time: The dead time is only 3.5 milliseconds. Reaction rates greater than 400s-1 have been measured.
Sample Volumes: The minimum reaction volume is 50 µl of each reactant per shot plus approximately 400 µl to flush and load a new sample.
Data Collection and Analysis: Data collection can be interfaced to KinTek SF software using a 200 kHz 12-bit A/D converter (available separately) providing fast and accurate data collection. Using the KinTek software, data can be fit to 1, 2 or 3 exponentials or 1, 2 exponentials plus a linear phase by nonlinear regression using the Marquat Method.
Observation Cells: The standard observation cell is a 2 × 2 × 5 mm quartz cuvette with a 5 or 2 mm path length (selectable by orienting the holder in the instrument). Other sample configurations are available on request for an additional charge.
Computer Interface: A TTL pulse is provided from the instrument to initiate data collection using software provided by the user or from KinTek.
Power Requirements: 110 volts, 15 amps.

Dimensions: (Width × Depth × Height) and Weight:
Stopped-Flow: (48 × 15 × 6 cm) 8 kg
Power Supply: (18 × 20 × 8 cm) 5 kg

Warranty

The KinTek MiniMixer Stopped-Flow is backed by a 2-year warranty against defects in the pneumatic drive and power supply. Valves and syringes are covered by a 90-day warranty.
